Born on 20 March 1940 in Vilnius.
1958-1963 - studied at Vilnius Pedagogical Institute and was trained as a teacher of the Lithuanian language and literature.
1965-1968 - Assistant at the Department of Philosophy at Vilnius Pedagogical Institute (currently - Pedagogic University).
1968-1971 - post-graduate student at the Department of Philosophy of Vilnius University. 1971-1972 - senior teacher at the department of Philosophy of Vilnius Pedagogical Institute.
1973-1987 - senior research worker at the national Scientific Technical Library, the Lithuanian Institute of Information, Head of the department.
1988-1989 - senior research worker of the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Law.
1989-1991 - Head of the sector at the Pedagogical Institute.
1992 - Director.
Doctor of Humanities.
Member of the Lithuanian Council of Science (1992-1993). Published over 150 scientific articles, wrote 10 books.
Member of the Homeland Union (Lithuanian Conservatives).
Speaks English, French and Russian languages.
Wife Ona Zinaida. The family has a son and a daughter.
Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Assembly of Members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.
