Member of the Seimas 1996-2000
Born in Vilnius on 27 January, 1962, into a family of workers.
Finished Vilnius secondary school Nr.22. In 1985 graduated from Vilnius Engineering Construction Institute (currently - Gediminas Technical University) as an engineer-geodesist. In 1985-1990 - worked at Vilnius Building trust No. 9, in 1990-1995 - was an elder of Justiniškiai residential area.
In 1995 elected member of the Municipal Council of the city of Vilnius.
In 1989-1992 - took an active part in the activities of Lithuanian Reform Movement Sąjūdis.
In 1993 - one of the founders of the Lithuanian Centre Union, a member of its Board and Council, as well as Chairman of the Council of Vilnius Department. In 1996 - Minister of Construction and Urban Development, since 1998 - Minister of Environmental Protection.
Married. The family has two children.
Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.
