Born on 4 September 1929 in the region of Alytus, the village of Liesioniai.
Went to Pivašiūnai primary school and Daugai high school.
In 1951 was arrested, accused of anti-Soviet activity and in 1952 was convicted to 10 years of exile and 5 years of imprisonment.
In 1956 returned to Lithuania. Finished Kretinga School of Accountant.
In 1964 graduated form the Department of Economics of Vilnius University. Doctor of Economic Sciences (currently - Social Sciences), docent.
Worked as an accountant, economist in agricultural organisations Of Jieznas region.
In 1960 - Head and teacher of Vilnius Extra-mural Courses of Accountancy.
In 1965-1974 - Assistant Director for Education at the Training Combine at the Lithuanian Central Statistical Department. Later - headed the Departments of Accountancy Mechanisation and Atomisation at several scientific institutes of designing automated systems of management
in 1984-1990 - docent at the Institute of Training Specialist of national Economy.
Vice Chairman of the of the Lithuanian Union of Political Prisoners, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Lithuanian Community of Political Prisoners and Deportees
Since 1992 - Member of the Seimas.
Since 1993 - member of the Homeland Union (Lithuanian Conservatives).
Speaks Polish, Russian and German languages.
Wife Vida. The family has a son and a daughter.
Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Baltic Assembly.
