The exhibition 'Development of a Parliamentary System in Lithuania in the 20th century' contains photographs illustrating the highlights in the history of a modern parliamentary system in Lithuania and the copies of the most important legal acts of Lithuania in the 20th century

 

A part of the exhibition is of the photographs illustrating a pre-parliamentary period in the Lithuanian history of the 20th century:

 - The Grand Seimas of Vilnius (1905),
- The Lithuanian Conference (1917) and 
- The Lithuanian Council which proclaimed the Act on the Restoration of the State of Lithuania and provided for the election to the Constituent Seimas of Lithuania. 

Another part of the exhibition is devoted to the development of a parliamentary system in Lithuania from 1920 to 1940. The photographs cover: 
- election to the Constituent Seimas, 
- sittings of the Constituent Seimas and Seimas of other terms of office, 
- portraits of the then Chairmen of the Seimas. 

The exhibition continues with the photographs witnessing modern history of the parliamentary system in Lithuania, including the photographs highlighting: 
- events during the restoration of the independence of Lithuania of March 1990; 
parliament during the tragic events of January 1991 when thousands of unarmed people stood in defence of the parliamentary buildings against the Soviet Army aggression; 
buildings and plenary hall of the parliament, 
- Chairmen and opposition representatives of the Seimas of this term of office (2000-2004), 
- events held in the parliament, 
- visits of foreign guests to the Seimas. 

The exhibition is organised by the Press Service of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania
